Established as a community college in 1975, UCCI has evolved into a comprehensive tertiary educational institution, offering innovative programs that prepare students for a lifetime of personal and professional success.
UCCI offers a wide variety of day and evening courses at the Associate, Bachelor, and Master's degree levels, as well as continuing adult education and workforce training through eleven departments and schools. The programs include certificates, undergraduate and graduate degrees, short courses, preparatory studies, and specialised training in fields such as business, IT, and technical vocational education.
With a commitment to academic excellence and a focus on meeting the changing needs of Cayman's developing society, UCCI provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's global landscape. The Future President
UCCI welcomes a new president who can engage with the entire community in building on the current strategic plan, while developing a clear vision for the future. The University College of the Cayman Islands benefits from a community of passionate supporters who care deeply about the University and its mission.
This esteemed position is at the helm of UCCI, guiding the institution towards achieving its mission and strategic goals. The President and CEO is responsible for the leadership, strategic vision, and growth of the College, ensuring the attainment of the goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Governors.
As the Future President, you will be a visible advocate for UCCI, enhancing the profile of the College and advancing its mission through proactive and regular communication and collaboration with stakeholder groups and individuals. You will leverage existing relationships and create new partnerships to support UCCI's mission, particularly in achieving enrolment goals. Your innovative approaches to financial sustainability and inspiring financial support will be crucial in overcoming funding challenges.
Key Responsibilities
The President and CEO is responsible for the attainment of the goals and objectives of the College in accordance with its mission, as set forth by the Board of Governors. He/She is responsible for the leadership, strategic vision, and growth of the College. The President provides guidance and support for the daily operational management of the College as a whole.
Strategic Mandate
VIEW STRATEGIC POLICYThe President has overall responsibility for the management of UCCI. In carrying out the next UCCI Strategic Plan, the President is expected to have both an internal and external focus, establishing deeper relationships and engagement with external stakeholders and in generating increased financial and people resources from both existing and new sources to meet the educational needs of the Cayman Islands.
Terms of Appointment
- The President and CEO is appointed by the Board of GovernorsAn appointment as President and CEO is for a contractual period determined by the Board of GovernorsContinuation of an appointment as the President and CEO is subject to a satisfactory annual performance review and is to be executed in accordance with the Public Authorities Act.
Criteria for Appointment
- A minimum of a Master’s degree, however a PhD would be advantageousAt least 10 years’ successful experience in an academic setting and at least 5 years in a senior administrative role
The Application Process
The Board of Governors and the Ministry of Education invites qualified and experienced candidates to apply in writing to CML. All applications and relevant documents are to be submitted electronically to CML, who are acting as UCCI's HR Consulting partners. The review of materials will begin immediately and continue until final candidates for appointment are identified.
