How to beat first day nerves

by Tiffany on September 2, 2011

Following on from Sinead’s blog last week, a friend and I had a conversation regarding the importance of first impressions in the work place, she had been told that people make their first impression of another person in the first 7 seconds of meeting someone. Now this seems like a very short amount of time to really decide how you feel about someone and make any important decisions, but it got me thinking that this could have some serious implications, especially with any important moments such as starting a new job! I don’t know about you, but when I’m nervous I don’t feel like I act 100% myself anyway so it’s a scary thought that people can make up a false impression of you right away. A first day at work is pretty nerve-wracking and so having to constantly think about what other people think of you is the last thing that should be on your mind.

For this reason, I’ve been scouring the web for any tips on how to make a good first impression. I came across this article which was specific to making a good impression on your first day at work! It gives some great tips on how to make that first day run smoothly…
