I’ve always had an interest in HR, when I was at university and deciding what career path to go down I was often attracted to the prospect of working in Human Resources. When I finished university, I spent a Summer interning at my local council’s HR department before the pull of recruitment drew me in and I found myself working in London as a recruitment consultant. However I have to say that I do believe the two professions go hand in hand and there is a lot of cross over between them.

To practice as a a lawyer in the BVI you must be admitted as solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (not the commonwealth). Whilst there is no minimum PQE requirement for the BVI, as there is in the Cayman Islands, it is uncommon for firms to hire ex-pat lawyers without at least 18 months experience. The principal areas of demand in the BVI are litigation, corporate, trusts, finance and funds. Additionally, anyone with previous exposure to Russian/CIS or Asian clients and matters will be looked upon favorably. Whilst the BVI offers the quintessential Caribbean lifestyle and is ideal for couples, families and singles it is perhaps a more challenging place to live than Bermuda or the Cayman Islands. Anyone relocating to the BVI should be robust and ready for an adventure.
