Insolvency in the Caribbean

by Louise on June 15, 2012

The Caribbean and in particular, Cayman, Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands, has a well established insolvency and corporate recovery sector. Many of the big 4 firms and second tier accounting firms have a presence in the region, as well as a number of large independent insolvency specialist firms.

Insolvency practitioners and their staff are mostly Chartered Accountants from commonwealth countries with extensive experience in insolvency. Many candidates also have an insolvency qualification such as the IPA, JIEB or INSOL.  Similarly the offshore law firms offer qualified and experienced attorneys with extensive litigation and insolvency experience.

Offshore insolvency and liquidation work is generated mainly by the financial services industry, such as hedge funds, international business companies (IBC’s), captive insurance companies and reinsurance companies, all of which operate in any number of countries globally. Appointments require dealing with distressed companies which can include helping them restructure their operations; overseeing their liquidation; or tracking down and recovering misappropriated assets both offshore and offshore.

The offshore world is an exciting place for insolvency and corporate recovery professionals offering the chance to work with complex, multi-faceted liquidations and insolvencies and providing a comprehensive range of solutions to meet client needs.

Are you a qualified Chartered Accountant with 2 or 10 years insolvency or corporate recovery experience? Opportunities exist for newly qualified candidate’s right up to partner level!
