From Bermuda to Cayman Islands: Six Months In

by Gemma on December 22, 2011

I have been living in the Cayman Islands for six months and am incredibly excited to spend my first Christmas here in the Caribbean!

Christmas in the Cayman Islands

Christmas in the Cayman Islands is an experience; the entire community goes all out for the festive season! Having lived in Bermuda, where Christmas was a lot simpler, I love all the over-the-top Christmas lights, giant Christmas trees, and decorations everywhere.

However, I am British; therefore, Christmas feel unreal without the cold, damp weather we have in the UK. Especially as this will be my husband and I’s first ever Christmas without either of our families around to celebrate. We’ve opted for a relaxing Christmas lunch, but that will not stop us from having a few glasses of champagne on the beach followed by an authentic British roast dinner with all the trimmings (including the dreaded sprouts!). Don’t feel too sorry for us; we have had many invites to various social events over Christmas and New Year. Celebrating with friends makes me realise how easy it has been to settle into living in Cayman and how friendly people have been to us.

Christmas with CML Recruitment

The CML Offshore Recruitment team are the perfect example of how friendly and welcoming the Cayman community can be in helping your transition to life on the island. Having not worked in an office environment for a few years before moving here, I was apprehensive at how easy it would be to fit into an already established office. However, I was made to feel welcome from the very start and have made really great friends at work.

The highlight thus far was the fantastic Christmas party we hosted. Now, I believe it wouldn’t be Christmas without CML and being voted ‘Most Organised’ in the office by my colleagues at our annual CML office awards!

The CML team are more than happy to go out of their way to ensure their candidates feel welcome. Whether they are changing careers on the island or planning the big step of relocating to the Cayman Islands, CML ensures everyone is happy. Our talented recruiters are all experts in their field and have over 56 combined years of recruitment experience. Their expertise is second to none.

So, as we look forward to 2012, I want to thank everyone at CML for making me and all those who have helped me gain employment over the last year feel special.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to family and friends, home and away!
