Confidence building tips

by Gemma on February 10, 2012

Having self confidence is an important character trait and can affect almost every area of a person’s life, however a lot of people have difficulty finding it. It was reported in a British newspaper this week that the Queen was to give Kate Middleton lessons in self confidence, so I thought that I would look into “confidence” and find out how someone can build on it.

Here are a few tips:

Only focus on your achievements, do not spend time thinking about your failures. If you find yourself thinking about how you failed with something just focus on what you can do differently next time.

Focus on who you are and what you like about yourself, if you are struggling with this then ask your friends why they like you?

Always smile and stand or sit up straight.

Do not be too competitive or compare yourself with others, realize that life is not a competition.

Prepare thoroughly for any task you are about to take on so that you are prepared.

Learn from someone who you feel has self confidence, use them as your model.

Set goals for yourself and reward yourself when you have achieved them.

People often worry too much and this can affect self confidence, ask yourself what really is at stake and what’s the worst that can happen.

Develop a thick skin, rejection happens to everyone just try not to take it personally and do not let it affect your level of confidence.
