Coffee, Cake & Careers: A Career Day for Caymanians
by The Editor on February 15, 2011
CML Offshore Recruitment’s Admin & Support Services Team has revamped its candidate-focused event, Coffee, Cake & Careers, into a Career Day/Open Day! The special event, the first in CML history, was held on Monday 18th January 2011 at the Grand Pavilion Commercial Centre.

CML Opportunities for Job Seekers
The turnout for this year’s Coffee, Cake & Career Day was astounding. With over 60 local job seekers in attendance, CML’s professional recruitment consultants were on the frontlines to discuss opportunities ranging from office administration to technical accounting. The consultants also provided insightful resume writing and interview advice to those candidates who were not matched with any available opportunities.
“Although we were busier than we expected, I was very pleased we could meet with so many candidates of all skill levels. Developing the Career Day was certainly a success and we will be hosting it again in Quarter 2 of 2011” commented Recruitment Consultant Louise Reed.
“It was great to see so many people taking the initiative to attend this event, even if the unexpectedly high number is a sad commentary on the scale of the islands’ unemployment problem. The number of attendees was around double that of similar events last year”, commented CEO Steve McIntosh. He added, “Unfortunately we do not have a magic wand that can create jobs or make employers hire candidates most in need. But I hope we were able to help every single person that attended in some way, whether it was by enhancing their resume, tips on interviews, job-seeking strategies, or providing career direction.”
Start Your Success Story
CML’s Coffee, Cake & Careers has produced several extraordinary success stories over the years. CML consultants have placed several Caymanian attendees in positions poised for growth. Additionally, these positions correspond with the candidates’ interests and skills. CML has also matched more experienced candidates with opportunities suited to their unique skills and education.
In 2010, CML successfully placed more than 40 Caymanians in financial services roles in the Cayman Islands. “That is a phenomenal achievement given the economic conditions,” said Mr. McIntosh, crediting the hard work of CML’s Administrative Recruitment team led by Louise Reed. Mr. McIntosh added, “We know we have a special responsibility to help Caymanian job-seekers and we take that role very seriously.”
